Pancho's Diving Adventures

You simply will not find a better dive operator in Cozumel than Pancho. We are a family of five, including 3 teenagers, all of whom were certified upon our arrival but with only a dozen or so dives each. If you have never been diving in Cozumel there are two critical factors in choosing a guide. First, choose a small local operator. Many dive shops are owned by absentee owners who are in cahoots with the cruise ships. Their only concern is the revenue and they don't provide the level of safety and personal service you will get with Pancho. Second, keep in mind that the diving in Cozumel is drift diving; it is important to have a guide that matches your experience with the difficulty of the dive site. I can say unequivocally that Pancho exceeds both these basic criteria. He has been diving in these waters for over 20 years and owns & maintains his own boat. He will not exceed 8 divers (as opposed to 15-20 divers with the large operations). The vast majority of his clients are repeat which is perhaps the highest compliment. Most of our dives were with a father & son who had been diving with Pancho for years. While we were of varying skill levels Pancho always seemed to somehow tailor each diver's experience for the maximum enjoyment and challenge. My kids came away from the week with both confidence and enthusiasm for our next diving adventure!

I've been lucky to visit Cozumel twice in the past month. In May I was on a cruise and stopped in Cozumel for one day. I emailed Pancho to arrange a dive while I was there. I met Pancho at the marina and even though his other divers had canceled on him, he still took me out by myself. I've seen other dive ops cancel dives when not enough people are there to make it financially practical, but not Pancho. Then in June I spent 10 days in Cozumel and dove several of those days with Pancho. Pancho provided much of the dive gear for me and everything worked great. Each day that we dove, we met at the marina, Pancho talked with us about our experience level and our interests and then he would suggest dive sites for the day. We would agree on a couple sites and then off we'd go. I've always had a great time with Pancho and also with the other divers that dive with him.

We have gone diving with Pancho yearly for several years. Our most recent adventure was a day trip while in Cozumel on a cruise ship. He was waiting for us at the Marina and ready to go on time in his boat, Makumba. He had gear for us and that worked out great. He is very accommodating and very helpful with gear. Diving in Cozumel is our favorite destination and pastime. Pancho is absolutely wonderful and I highly recommend him!!

Just finished one of the most beautiful dive weeks with Pancho. He is the perfect dive master. He makes sure everyone is safe, and enjoys their dive. He understands what his divers needs are when it comes to diving. He always knows I like to start off with shallow dive and then build to the deeper dives during the week. He continually finds great underwater life to see and take pictures of. We have been diving with Pancho for ten years now and will not ever look at another dive master to go with.
